Gang, the Nordstrom Sale is HERE!!!

Hey y’all. Woo, I stayed up to 12am PST to shop the sale and I’m living off coffee today!

2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale… eeeekkkkk!

Hey y’all! It’s that time of year again ladies… the NORDSTROM Anniversary sale. OH YEAH, indeed. The 2018 Anniversary sale catalog dropped last week and it seems to be all that anyone can talk about in the blogosphere. It is an exciting time considering not only are you able to get the newest brands for the season early but they’re brand new and on serious sale. This year the sale runs from July 20ththrough August 5th. However, early access for Nordstrom cardholders begins on July 12th.I’m not condoning credit cards but I will tell you it’s worth just signing up for the CC and never using it just to get early access to snag up the goodies because the fan FAVS sell out quick and don’t get restocked always for public access. One of the perks of the card is that you do get rewards points that add up and get you Nordstrom notes (Free $ toward future purchases) so if you have the discipline to shop with your card and then pay it off in full then I strongly encourage you to sign up asap.

Important Dates to Note:
JULY 12th– Early Access for Nordstrom Cardholders

JULY 20th– Sales opens up to everyone.

AUGUST 5th– Last day of sale.

AUGUST 6th– Prices go back to full retail.

This sale can get a bit intense if you are looking for specific items that you want- styles and sizes sell out quickly. When I say quickly, I mean some a matter of minutes. Take full advantage of Nordstrom’s free shipping and returns policy. If there’s something you think you may want, snag it up and if you get it and don’t love it, it’s as simple as slapping the return label back on it.

Take time to browse the catalog but remember this is only a small offering of what will actually be in the sale. Are there must have items featured there that you really want? If so, make yourself a quick list so you can reference it and do a quick search in the search bar and add those bad boys in your shopping cart ASAP. I like to also make note of my favorite brands usually apart of the sale so I can do a quick search and find. Some of my personal favorites are Vince Camuto (great selection of fall booties), Leith, Rag & Bone, Kendra Scott, FRAME denim, All Saints, and some Nordstrom exclusive brands (Chelsea28, Treasure and Bond, Hinge) that never disappoint. Oh and sooo many more.

After a 9+ months hiatus, I’m back with tons to share with y’all. Life has a funny way of steering us in different directions sometimes and certainly throws us curve balls when we least expect it; hence my sabbatical. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the last year, it’s to make the most of the moment you’re in, don’t hang on to the past when you can’t change it and be hopeful of what impact you can have on yourself and the future. I like to think that as I grow older I become a little more wiser with each day. With that, I’ll be keeping it 110% real around here. We are all human, we have good days and we have bad, we make mistakes and lose sense of ourselves sometimes. I’m on this path of self help at the moment where I want to be the best version of myself that I can be. Along this journey, I want to be as open and transparent with all y’all as I can. 

What got me here? Well, let’s rewind for a moment. 

12 months earlier…….

There are two very special people in particular whom have molded me in to the person I am today. I lost one of those last May, my father. He had been ill for sometime but plateaued to where it felt like he was in a place where he would have been around for a lot longer than he was. Loss in general is difficult; loss when its sudden and you don’t get to say your goodbyes leaves you looking for answers and questioning all of your prior actions. “Why didn’t I visit more? Why am I so selfishly caught up in my own day to day that I couldn’t stop to cherish those last moments?” Those are all things that still cross my mind but I’m consciously aware that those are things I can’t change now. I have to look forward and be aware of what I can control.

In addition to heartbreak from losing a loved one, I made a pretty big career move in March that was really intimidating. I took a chance to step outside of my “safe zone” and walk down a path that wasn’t as familiar to me. Let’s just say that work life balance is amazing if y’all don’t know what that is. 😉 However, that alone left me drinking from a firehose, all while being a sponge to absorb all intel possible to be successful at my new gig. Yikes! 

Outside of that, it’s been a whirlwind. Time flies when you lose sense of yourself and fall in to a state of just living day by day. I turned 31 last month, my promise to myself this year was to become the best version of me. I’m the only one standing in my way and it’s my own fault if I fail. So far, so good. #onward

Now that you’ve had a quick glimpse of my reset, I hope y’all are as excited as I am to get this baby rollin’. Fun times ahead and lots of great content to share. For now though, I need my beauty sleep. 



30: Entering A New Decade

Thirty is one of those birthday’s that you get mixed feelings about; it’s a milestone birthday that after crossing, I’m still not sure if I’m willingly ready to admit that “I’m 30” when asked my age. Some days I feel like I could conquer the Boston marathon and there are others where I feel like a huge win is an evening curled up on the couch, rubbing Tiger Balm on my not so shaved legs while watching reruns of Modern Family. Too much? – Maybe.

However, thirty is exciting in the way that you’ve established routines, your 9:30pm bedtime is finally accepted, and you have life figured out (ha, yeah right- let’s all laugh together on that one). On the other hand, mild anxiety sets in when you have an ah-ha moment that you’re ten years away from forty, you still aren’t married and technically your (grand)mom is right when she weaves random comments in to casual conversations that may or may not take a stab at your biological clock. Yikes!

Moving on…

Now that there’s no dialing back the clock and I’m faced with my new membership to the Dirty 30 Club, I wanted to share some wisdom with those on things that are OHHHH so very important to start in your yesteryear’s. We often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life but there are little things that we can add in to our routine that not only make our today’s better but our 30’s+ easier.

1.) Wash your face every night before bed. No matter how tired you are, wash your face before bed. We’re exposed to soooo many germs throughout the day and many of us have a habit of touching our face often which adds oil and dirt to our face that leads to blackheads and pimples. Don’t let makeup and grime sit in your pores for the 8+ hours that you’re asleep.

I recommend a mild face wash with a rejuvenating scent to just make you feel good; everyone’s skin type is different so it may take some time to find a good fit for you. I use Origins Checks And Balances with a Clarisonic face brush with the Radiance cleansing brush head- this was a total godsend send for me. And if you’re just too exhausted to go to the trouble of washing your face, at least use a cleansing wipe to do a quick sweep of your face to clean most of the gunk off of your face. (Leave a pack of cleansing wipes on your nightstand as a reminder.)


2.) Wear Sunscreen. Even when you don’t think you need sunscreen, wear it. You’ll thank me later. Two of my favorites are Coola Suncare and Supergoop! These are not oily or super fragrant which makes them great for everyday wear. Oh and in the meantime, get a skin checkup from your dermatologist and make sure to do it regularly.

3.) Take time for “me time”. Treating yourself is not only important for your own well-being, but for those around you. By allowing yourself to have a few minutes a day that allows you to reconnect with yourself, decompress and breathe, you’re prolonging your life and become in tune with yourself to be a better person. Yoga and Pilates is my favorite thing to do when I need to just regroup. There’s also nothing wrong with taking 10-20 minutes to apply a face mask to revitalize your skin while you’re watching TV or catching up with your bestie on FaceTime. Target and Ulta both have great options to choose from that range from $2-$6. See a couple of my favorites linked below.


4.) Drink water and lots of it. There are so many positives from drinking H2O. Just by loading up on the recommended 8 cups a day, it helps curb our appetite which helps us fight off those pesky extra pounds, makes our skin glow, and gives us that boost of energy that we need during our afternoon slump. For those that maybe have a hard time slurping down water, try it with a couple slices of lemon/fruit or purchase a cute water bottle (BPA free of course) to help encourage those extra sips throughout the day. See below for a few suggestions.

5.) Volunteer. This one is a little out of place compared to my other four suggestions but it’s just as important. I remember the first time that I volunteered, it was such a humbling experience that I started looking at life completely different. It gives you a newfound appreciation for your daily life and is just plain out good for the soul. We often get busy with life and forget to sometimes take a moment to give back but I promise when you do it’s so worth sacraficing that Saturday afternoon. Many towns have local websites that have volunteer events posted for folks to sign up for; if you don’t know of any, start by checking out to find an event in your area.
